Filmmaker Tyler Perry was heard chatting about his Halloween flick “Boo 2! A Madea Halloween” at a bar over the weekend, where he also said he was scouting for a new project where no pros need apply.
The notoriously prolific writer/director/actor/producer, who recently signed a mega new film and television deal with Viacom, told barflies at the Ritz Carlton Hotel that he was “looking for fresh faces with no experience, agents or a portfolio,” we’re told.
Apparently Perry, who’s worth a reported $600 million, is running out of challenges. Last year, the original “Boo! A Madea Halloween” brought in $74 million.
We’re told that the 48-year-old New Orleans native was hanging out this weekend with two men and a woman and sporting a Canadian tuxedo — head-to-toe denim.
On Monday, he visited NBC’s “Today” show to explain why the world needed a “Boo!” sequel.
“There’s so much going on in the country, we just need to laugh,” he told Savannah Guthrie. He also assured audience that this Halloween flick is “just silly fun.”
Perry also promised that when audiences stop coming to see him cross-dress to play the Madea character, he’s burying the granny outfits.
“As soon as they stop coming, this broad is dead,” he laughed.
