This Beef Jerky Contained One Very Surprising Secret Ingredient: An Employee Badge

An unknown employee at Oberto snack-making factory is now without an identification badge, but that person probably shouldn't expect to find it by retracing their steps around the workplace. That's because a woman identified by Consumerist as "Kim" found the badge sitting comfortably in a bag of beef jerky she recently bought.

According to Consumerist, the Georgia woman picked up a bag of Oberto's beef jerky in preparation for Hurricane Irma, but when she opened it a few days later, she found the badge completely intact — and taking up most of the space in the package — with an employee ID number printed on it. Needless to say, she was very confused and reached out to Oberto immediately to ask the questions that pretty much everyone else wants to know as well: Who does the ID belong to, and how the heck did it end up in her jerky?

"I would certainly like to know the story behind this ID badge and hope that the employee it belongs to is okay… please advise," she wrote to Oberto.

Kim says she reached out to the company for a refund and a return shipping label so that she can send the badge back to its rightful owner, but she has yet to receive a response. She hasn't filed a report with the FDA yet since she's giving Oberto a chance to respond so, until then, she's holding on to the badge. Guess that mysterious employee is out of luck for now.
