Willie Cory Goldbolt, a 35-year-old resident of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, is suspected of killing 8 people, including a police officer.
Goldbolt allegedly went on a shooting spree, killing three women and William Durr, a Lincoln County Deputy.
Then, at another location, he killed two young men, and finally, killed a man and a woman at a third location before being taken into custody by police.
Goldbolt was involved in a custody dispute when Deputy Durr showed up, and Goldbolt killed him, The Clarion-Ledger reports.
As Goldbolt was sitting handcuffed, he spoke directly to a reporter from the Clarion-Ledger, confessing to the crimes.
Goldbolt told the reporter, “my pain wasn’t designed for him. He was just there.”
“We was talking about me trying to take the children home…somebody called the officer…that’s what they do, they intervene. It cost him his life. I’m sorry.”
The suspect also said, “Suicide by cop was my intention. I ain’t fit to live. Not after what I’ve done.”
No charges have been filed yet, and the motive is still unclear, AP News reports.
