Manchester Arena explosion at Ariana Grande gig causes multiple deaths and injuries as cops swarm to treat wounded concertgoers

POLICE have confirmed people have died and been injured after “explosions” at Manchester Arena sent thousands of terrified concertgoers fleeing an Ariana Grande concert.

Witnesses on social media have reported hearing a “massive bang” before screaming crowds rushed out of venue with police confirming there was an explosion.Police said: "Emergency services are currently responding to reports of an explosion at Manchester Arena.

"There are a number of confirmed fatalities and others injured.

"Please AVOID the area as first responders work tirelessly at the scene.

"Details of a casualty bureau will follow as soon as available."

It is still unclear what caused the explosion with varied reports suggested the explosion could have been caused by a speaker or a balloon, while some suggested a gun had gone off.

Manchester Victoria Station has shut down all services.

Witnesses have reported seeing emergency services swarming at the scene as video footage shows crowds rushing from the scene.
