The photo was taken by Ryan McClanahan at a home near Green Hill Park Thursday morning. He and his wife say they heard a honk on their car horn and came out to discover it was a bear cub that did it.
They then called the police.
Officers say the bear caused some damage to the inside of the vehicle.
The window to the car was not broken. Officers think the bear may have actually pulled on the car handle.
Roanoke County Police Officer Chris Thayer said, "You could see there was mist. It was misty, so you could see where he tried to reach for the handle, he opened the handle. Once he got into the car, he locked himself because he couldn't get himself out."
The officer says he eventually took a chance and opened the car door, and the bear ran off into the woods.
The officer says the bear was likely looking for snacks in the car.
