Slated for a May 28 release in Japan, Fathom Events will bring Resident Evil: Vendetta to the big screen during a one-night event on June 19 (you can buy your ticket here). A co-production between Capcom and Marza Animation Planet (Space Pirate Captain Harlock), Resident Evil: Vendetta is directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Ultraman X) from a screenplay by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass).
Taking place after Resident Evil 6 (the video game), Resident Evil: Vendetta will feature a new threat in the form of Glenn Arias, a “merchant of death” whose plans are to unleash a terrorist attack by using the T-Virus on New York City.
The clip below features iconic Resident Evil heroes Chris Redfield (Kevin Dorman) and Leon S. Kennedy (Matt Mercer) fighting their way through a hallway filled with zombies, with Leon Kennedy totally channeling his inner John Wick in a very nifty action sequence. Not seen in the clip, Rebecca Chambers (Erin Cahill) will also appear in the movie. About bringing Resident Evil: Vendetta to the big screen, here’s what Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said:
“We are thrilled to bring Resident Evil: Vendetta to the big screen for its U.S. debut. This sequel is even scarier and more thrill-inducing than the previous titles, with mind blowing CG animation that should be seen on 40-foot screens with the highest quality sound and visuals to further enhance the fan experience of this beloved franchise.”
