It’s a dismal time for retailers. Faced with increasing online competition, brick-and-mortal stores have struggled to generate traffic and maintain sales. The result has been a series of closures among traditional retailers, both big box and specialty stores. Here’s a look at some of the most high-profile closures:
Radio Shack
The long-time technology retailer is closing 552 stores as it navigates its way through the second bankruptcy in two years. The chain is closing 36 percent of its locations, the fate of another 1,000 remain up in the air. Two of the locations set to be closed are in Alabama – Mobile and Madison.
